Five individuals were detained Thursday at the shooting of singer Lady Gaga’s dog walker Ryan Fischer and at the associated dognapping of the singer’s two French squirrels, Koji and Gustav. That is according to a news release by the Los Angeles Police Department.
James Jackson (age 18), Jaylin White (age 19), also Lafayette Whaley (age 27) are accused of attempted murder and vandalism. Harold White (age 40) and Jennifer McBride (age 50) are both accused of being accessories to attempted murder.
“The investigation revealed that James Jackson, Jaylin White, and Lafayette Whaley were involved in the shooting and robbery the victim,” the police news release stated. “Detectives don’t think the suspects were targeting the victim due to the dogs’ owner. However, evidence indicates that the suspects knew the terrific value of the strain of puppies and was the inspiration for the prosecution”
“Harold White and Jennifer McBride were decided to be accessories after the initial crime,” it proceeds. “McBride reported that she found that the dogs and responded to the benefit email to return the puppies. She finally brought the puppies to LAPD Olympic Station. Detectives could establish McBride had a connection with the dad of one of the suspects,” Harold White.”
“James Jackson, Jaylin White, Lafayette Whaley, and Harold White are documented gang members in Los Angeles,” the authorities included.
Grainy nighttime surveillance video of those Feb. 24 dognapping and shooting, which was disseminated earlier by TMZ, showed what appeared to be a white sedan pulling up next to Fischer. Two individuals emerged from the back passenger seat of the car and attacked Fischer as he yelled for help. The Moses took two of their puppies into the back seat of the car after a gunshot rang out. The car sped off less than fifty seconds after the attack started. Fischer was left to the sidewalk.
Lady Gaga provided a $500,000 reward for the dogs. The reward was never compensated, TMZ stated while reporting that the arrests, since authorities were suspicious of the woman who reported that the animals were found.
A third dog possessed by Lady Gaga was present but wasn’t taken. It raced but returned to the scene.
Here is the way the LAPD described the events which led to the puppies being returned:
On February 26, 2021 at approximately 6:00 p.m., a woman met Lady Gaga’s staff and Robbery Homicide Detectives at Los Angeles Police Department Olympic Station with the two lost dogs taken in the new Hollywood street prosecution.
The woman found the dogs reached out to Lady Gaga’s employees to return . The woman’s identity and the place that the dogs were found will remain confidential due to the active criminal identification and for her security.
The victim is listed in stable condition after the shooting, and his injuries were described as being non-life-threatening.
Police released short descriptions of just two of the suspects after the initial Feb. 24 shooting. The suspects”required that the victim turn over the puppies at gunpoint,” the authorities said at the time. “The victim struggled against the suspects and has been taken by one of the suspects. The suspects shot two of the 3 puppies fled the scene in the suspect vehicle.”
