‘I Am a State Rep!”: Democratic Lawmaker Charged with Drunk Driving, Resisting Arrest After Authorities Catch Him with Their Pants Down (VIDEO)

A Michigan state lawmaker was allegedly caught with his pants literally down within an alleged drunken driving spree that culminated with a car landing in a ditch, harms to unknown female airways, accusations of disparate racial therapy, charges of resisting arrest, threats to call the governor and other officials to get support, and requests for special therapy.
Rep. Jewell Jones is a now-26-year-old Democrat out of Inkster, Mich., a suburb in Wayne County southwest of Detroit. Police records state that he had been tased, pepper sprayed, and detained later he became ill with the police.
The detained originated from driving between Southfield and also Fowlerville which has been shocking that”many different motorists called 911,” the Detroit Free Press stated in a opinion. Detroit FOX affiliate WJBK-TV acquired video taken by a driver who stated he observed Jones driving .
Jones came to rest in a ditch in an SUV position the vanity plate”ELECTED.” Some reports state the earliest responding paramedics found Jones and his company with their pants down. From a WJBK report (which cites Another report from the Michigan Information & Research Service, that demands a subscription):
A paramedic on scene had observed that the girl’s pants were down and Jones’ pants were partially down, according to the report.
The girl was finally put in an ambulance when it was determined she was unable to stand in her own, had vomited, and had been essentially unresponsive.
According to police documents reviewed by Law&Crime, the lawmaker was confrontational that medics requested a”priority one” law enforcement answer. From a state police report:
I arrived on scene and observed a male subject near an EMS worker and the worker attempting to push him back. I contacted the male because the EMS worker was guiding him, he wasn’t permitted to go from the sidewalk. I requested the male theme to step back by my patrol car. The male subject appeared to be highly intoxicated. There was a strong odor of intoxicants coming out of his speech was slurred because he talked. His eyes were red bloodshot and his fine motor skills were weak.
The”male theme” (Jones) snapped a badge, but state troopers did not have a fantastic look at it. Again, from the state police report:
He stated he had been an off-duty officer. I asked to see his ID and his driver’ licenses. I requested the ID and driver’s permit a few times and that he refused to honor. Then he stepped back and jolt out him arms clinched his faith fist using a set of keys inside, he then squared his position as if he had been going to get something. He had been asked one final time because of his ID and driver’s permit, he responded”I can not do so.” I reached out for the guy’s right wrist therefore we can detain the issue and he immediately started to pull off and withstand.
What follows from this report is really that a play-by-play description of everything the state police did to try to detain Jones and everything Jones allegedly did to withstand. The affair involved”loud verbal commands,” two jolts out of a Taser, a warning about being pepper sprayed, and a single shot of pepper spray into the eyes.

She later affirmed Jones has been driving the car. Her name is redacted in police reports.
Jones refused medical care and has been taken to jail. (Prosecutors later said the amount was”at least 0.17,” that the Free Press reported.) The blood attracted occurred at 9:16 pm, additional documents show; troopers were dispatched to the scene just a couple of minutes after 6:00 p.m.

Supplemental police reports included a number of the dialogue between Jones and the assembled officers. What follows is a mix of what’s included in those reports based on officers’ memories and what’s discernible from the choppy dash cam video and sound records. It is not an entire transcript.
The video shows a state trooper pulling behind a halted ambulance on the right-hand shoulder of a highway. Even a trooper exits and approaches Jones, who had been engaged in dialogue with a group of three constructed paramedics. Jones stated he wanted to ride in the sidewalk — seemingly with his female company. The paramedics and the trooper told him he could not.
Jones stated he needed to travel”with her” in the sidewalk”for medical purposes.” He suggested maybe he could stick to the ambulance and the state police could follow him.
“If they say no, you’re not likely,” the trooper told Jones.
“Relax; continue,” the trooper said a few times because he blocked Jones out of moving.
“I am not gont do anything crazy, bro,” Jones said.
“Do not do something stupid,” the trooper said.
“I will not, so simply follow me all the way into the hospital,” Jones said. “I will follow them, and you follow me…”
The trooper cut him off.
“I will figure out what’s happening.” The trooper stated. “Relax, alright? Let’s see your ID and your driver’s permit .”
“I will not give them to you, brother,” Jones said.
Jones walked into the right; the trooper followed .
Michigan State Police Trooper James Gilmer points at Jewell Jones while facing him around the side of this highway. State Police records show Jones’s BAC has been 0.191 many hours afterwards. Image via dashboard cam video.
“Relax. Do not do something stupid that you’re likely to repent,” said the trooper.
Jones repeatedly refused to deliver his license. He appeared to say he would be walking over to his vehicle and”sitting down.”
“I am requesting your ID yet another time and your driver’s license. Can you understand me?”

“Do not be dumb. That would be a big mistake for you at this time,” Gilmer said.
“I need your ID and your driver’s permit,” Gilmer requested yet again.
The other trooper walked behind Jones.

A second trooper approached Jones and Gilmer approximately one minute into the encounter. Image via dashboard cam video.
“I got something to say for you, bro,” Jones said. (The police report calls that statement an example of”inactive resistance.”)
“Can I talk to you in your ear?” Jones also requested Gilmer several times.
“You are not doing what you’re supposed to be doing at this time, and that’s the problem,” Gilmer said with reference Jones’s failure to turn over his ID.
Gilmer stated he had been keeping him off.
“We’re going to do this one step at one time,” Gilmer said.
Jones inquired if he can get his telephone . Gilmer advised him”no.”
“Today, I want your ID and your driver’s permit, okay?” Gilmer requested.
Jones stated he”can not do so.”
Officers then moved to place Jones into custody.
“Do not become rough,” Gilmer appears to state.
The video then cuts to reveal the view from a different squad car’s dashboard cam.
The consequent scuffle ended with two officers holding Jones down to the floor several feet off the face of the highway.
While asking Jones a seemingly uncountable amount of times to allow himself to be handcuffed, Jones repeatedly stated he would receive his ID. Then, it had been too late.
“I swear to God, I will give you my ID. Jones said. “I do not trust you.”
“I swear to God, I will give you my left arm,” Jones said after repeated commands to allow himself to be put into custody. “I swear to God, I shall. I swear to God. I swear to God. Only trust me… I swear to God, I would not lie to you… I will telephone Governor [Gretchen] Whitmer at this time! I swear to God, I will give it to you.”
That exchange ended at about five minutes and 5 seconds into the recording.
Then he dropped the n-word at 5:08.
“Allow me to sit back! Allow me to sit , n*****! Allow me to sit !” Jones said into the Dark trooper who had been assisting Gilmer. “I am not gonna do nothing to you! I don’t enjoy this!”

“Give us your arm! Stop resisting!” The officers controlled at 5:16.
“No! I had been abused by the f**king police, officer! I’m Black! Only let me get up! I am a state rep! I will provide it to you! I swear to God! Only let me sit !”
“You are not sitting ! Give me your left arm!” The officers exclaimed.
“I am not giving me my arm if you don’t shoot ,” Jones said at a single point. “You shoot me, I will end up.”
“What!” A shocked officer responded.
Jones continued to say he would give his arm if they permitted him to sit . Even the troopers continued to accuse him of not cooperating and, even when they appeared to oblige with his orders to be permitted to sit , they chose to accuse him of failing to go through with his”swear to God” promise to quit resisting arrest.
More officers arrived on the scene. Image via dashboard cam video.
“You are much stronger than me, I will tell you that far,” Jones said. “I don’t give a fuck, bro; when I call Gretchen I will needy’all ID’s badge amounts — everything.”
He said he would give the troopers he would”sit and givey’all my shit.”
“Bro, I have been abused by the police so much,” Jones said after he noting he”worked together with the police.”
A trooper advised him. “Give us your left arm!”
Jones indicated he needed to phone”Gretchen” (Gov. Whitmer) to help him out.
Troopers told Jones that he was”under arrest” about eight minutes into the recording.
Jewell Jones has been hauled into a squad car around ten minutes following the encounter began. Image via dashboard cam video.
According to police reports,” Jones also advised troopers”its not likely to be great for you” and”I runy’all budget, bro.”
“Bro, if you tase mepersonally, it’s gon’ be awful,” he is alleged to have stated.
“If you hit me it’s likely to be awful for you; should you strike me it’s going to be quite bad for you,” he afterwards is accused of saying.

“Tell Joe that you got. You are gonna telephone fucking Joe… I am not sure he’s (inaudible). If he’s not up, wake up him. Tell Joe that you’ve. Tell Joe who you’ve — handcuffed, okay?” Jones said in a slow, slurred monologue in the back of a squad car beginning at roughly 19:05 into the video. “And then, let me understand you have me and let him know I would like to go home. Following that, let me go fucking house. However, talk to him . Wake his ass up. You need me to phone him? You’s all put like like ten fucking troopers are on me. Give me my call; I will call him myself. I will phone him and tell him how I’d like to go home. That is the only place I am going after this.”
At roughly 20:20 into the recording, Jones complained that”youthful troopers” put him in a”fucking traumatic” fashion while he had been”already fucking Black.”

As per a press release from the Livingston County Prosecutor’s Office, the fees Jones faces are four counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer (that carries a possible two-year sentence), working on a motor vehicle using a high blood alcohol content (that carries a possible 180-day jail sentence ), working on a motor vehicle while drunk (93 times ), possession of a weapon under the influence of alcohol (93 times ), and reckless driving (93 times ).

Ali Hammoud, Jones’s lawyer, stated Jones is an”auxiliary police officer… plus a deacon in his church,” that the Free Press reported. Hammoud said”Jones will continue to reliably serve” his constituents when talking with local reporters after a court hearing.”
Hammoud also advised that the paper police used”excessive force” during the arrest and had no right to request Jones’s ID at the first place because no crime was committed.
“There was no sign of alcohol,” Hammoud asserted.

A judge permitted Jones to maintain any weapons that he needed for National Guard obligation.
The legislature is deciding whether to subject Jones.
